Guilford College in Surrey is renowned for its exceptional facilities and high success rates exceeding national benchmarks. They offer qualifications from entry-level to degree-level across a wide array of subjects. It’s a busy college with constant foot traffic and students coming and going. It is the kind of building that is bound to need regular refreshes, with constant, ongoing upkeep, to keep in working order.
Under a JCT Contract, Hi-Tech was appointed Principal Contractor and Designer for many internal refurbishment and structural repair works at the college. The project encompassed several key areas to enhance the infrastructure and functionality of the school. With a particular focus on the new bathrooms and sanitaryware systems, we got to work on a full toilet refurbishment.
This involved installing new sanitaryware to improve both aesthetics and functionality. We made sure to provide students and staff with modern, hygienic, and efficient amenities.
The electrical installations were upgraded with multiple new distribution boards and equipment, ensuring a more reliable power supply. Additionally, we repaired and replaced numerous fire doors to enhance safety standards.

The team installed over 1 kilometer of containment for the college’s new addressable fire alarm system. This advanced system allows for precise identification and prompt resolution of faults and fires, as each unit can be individually located.
