At one of our clients’ premier sites, The Beckford Inn, the duty manager awoke to a nightmare in the function room. A large amount of water was coming through the ceiling and highly decorative plaster ceiling mouldings. He found that the water damage was caused by a leaky heating system above the room. Fortunately, he was able to isolate the section of dripping pipework. Unfortunately, a substantial amount of water damage was caused to the room below before he got to it.
An immediate attendance call was placed with Hi-Tech, which was promptly responded to by an electrician and a plumber. They made safe the electrical circuitry in the function room and repaired the leaking heating pipework. This meant that we were able to get the heating system working again for the guests in the eight suites on our customer’s property.
Once the site was safe, we could begin work to rescue and repair the damage to the function room. A senior manager was dispatched to assess the damage and to prepare plans for repairs and redecoration. The function room at this premises is used frequently for meetings, parties and weddings, so we were eager to get it back up and running.

This included working at height on elevated platforms to remove the wallpaper from the ceiling and walls. Localised plaster repairs were carried out to the cracks in the ceiling. Similarly, repairs were done on the decorative plaster mouldings around the light fittings.

The whole of the ceiling (approximately 80 sqm) was repapered, stain blocked and painted, taking great care to protect the existing fixtures and fittings in this impressive function room. It only took our operatives a total of five working days to complete the works to an exceptionally high standard. The client was delighted as there was minimal impact on trade. The room itself was once again available for use less than a week after it was damaged.
