A practical beginning with plenty of directions to grow
Declan’s connection to the industry began at an early age. His father was a builder, giving him first-hand experience of construction and an understanding of what it takes to deliver good work on site.
After working in the wider industry for more than a decade, he chose to specialise in electrical work. What attracted him was not simply the trade itself, but the number of different routes it could open—from commercial and industrial systems to distribution, electric vehicle charging and solar technology.
That variety continues to motivate him today, with each project offering a different environment, a fresh challenge and another opportunity to develop.

Working at Hi-Tech has helped Declan develop beyond the technical requirements of his own trade. Delivering projects alongside builders, plumbers, carpenters and other specialists has strengthened his ability to communicate, coordinate work and contribute to a complete project.
He has also completed a number of training courses supported by the business, helping him expand his electrical knowledge and build qualifications with lasting value.

Taking ownership and seeing the finished result
One of Declan’s most memorable early Hi-Tech projects was at The Crown in Selsey. He was given meaningful responsibility for how the electrical work was organised and completed, particularly during the second-fix stage.
The project included installing new steel wire armoured supplies to external pods and carefully bringing the cables together into a new external distribution board. For Declan, the satisfaction came from combining sound technical work with a clean, well-planned finish.
The completed installation received positive feedback from both the client and his supervisor—an early example of the trust and responsibility that have since become central to his role.
